How to install a dog waste station.

Every K9 Dog Waste Station ships in one box with the post, can, dispenser, sign, keys and every bolt it needs. Six steps put it together and set it in the ground. Four measurements decide where everything goes, and the drawing shows all four.

Before you start

  1. 01

Know what's under the spot before you dig. If you're not sure where the power, water and gas lines run, call 811 a few days ahead. The call is free, and they'll mark the lines.

  2. 02

Wear gloves while you assemble and install the station.

  3. 03

    Tighten every nut securely.

  4. 04

Bring a wrench or socket set, a post hole digger, and a bag of concrete if you pour.

What's in the box.

Everything comes in one box. The schedule shows which step uses each part, so you can lay the hardware out in order before you start.

Six steps.

  1. Assemble the post

Lay the three post sections end to end so each joint overlaps by four holes. Bolt each joint with one of the 1⅜ in bolts, a washer on each side and a hex nut.

  2. Set the post in the ground

Dig the hole and set no more than 14 in of the post into the ground. We recommend pouring concrete around the post to keep the station steady.

Install questions.

How deep should a dog waste station post go?

No more than 14 inches into the ground. We recommend concrete around the post, because it keeps the station steady.

How high should the trash can sit?

Leave at least 4 inches between the bottom of the can and the ground.

How high does the bag dispenser go?

Raise the can lid all the way, then leave 2 inches between the lid and the bottom of the dispenser. The sign goes 1 inch above the dispenser.

Does the Mini Waste Station install the same way?

Yes. The Mini Waste Station goes together with the same six steps and the same four measurements.

Which bags go in the dispenser?

That depends on the version you bought. The Boxed Roll Bags version takes our roll bags, and the Hanging Pull Bags version takes our header bags. It holds up to 1,000 roll bags or 800 header bags.

How many stations does a property need?

It depends on how many dogs live there and how far people walk them. Our guide to how many dog waste stations a property needs works it out.
